I have a quick update for you all, and hopefully, this isn’t too disappointing. I’m changing the competition for my pro debut. Many of you know I initially planned to compete in the WMBF Pro Intercontinental in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Unfortunately, the airfare to Edmonton is quite expensive right now, and it’s difficult to justify the cost for a competition where I could achieve the same result elsewhere. The biggest disappointment for me is not meeting the people who messaged or emailed, saying they were looking forward to meeting me in Edmonton and watching me compete. I was also looking forward to battling it out with Enseima, the Muscle Mayhem winner this year. Enseima, if you’re watching and want to try to make it to New Haven, we can battle it out there. If we both make the overall, you’re welcome, and I’d love to share the stage with you. You have a fantastic physique.
I haven’t fully decided about competing in Worlds four weeks after my pro debut. For now, I’m focusing on the immediate future: finishing these next five weeks (instead of six, since the show is a week earlier) and bringing the best possible package to the stage. I’m enjoying the rest of this prep as much as possible.
I appreciate all your support. I read every comment and message sent my way. That’s the update. I hope you enjoy the rest of this workout.
Bodybuilder performing barbell squats
I use this cue for lunges, squats, deadlifts, and everything else: drive through my heels. Instead of pushing off with my back foot, I let my heel lift me, keeping my glutes tight throughout. With a low bar position, I can emphasize glutes more. For more quad focus, I use a higher bar position, maintain a more upright posture, and actively flex my quads after each rep. I usually don’t walk these out.
