It’s Friday, May 5th, and my girlfriend Stephanie and I are on our way to Pompano Beach, Florida for a one-night stay at a beachfront hotel. Tomorrow, we’re driving back north to St. Augustine, about a four-hour drive, to see Travis Scott in concert. I snagged tickets a couple of months ago and I’m a big fan, excited to finally catch his live performance. Two days after that, we’re off to Egypt! I plan to vlog every other day, so I’m capturing our Florida adventures before documenting our entire Egypt trip.
I hit a new low weight of 162.5 pounds this morning. That’s lower than I intended, so I’ll start refeeding and filling back out. I actually appear tighter after a few days of controlled refeeding anyway. I had a great day: my last committee meeting for my dissertation defense! My defense is scheduled for June 23rd, slightly sooner than expected. My thesis is due June 9th, and with our Egypt trip next week, I might have to do some writing overseas. After that, I’ll officially be Dr. Boron!
I’ve been focusing on eating my vegetables instead of ice cream lately, trying to strike a balance between healthy choices and indulgence.
We finally arrived at our hotel in Pompano Beach. Jeff, the bellhop, helped us with our luggage. The hotel has a cool, beachy, hipster vibe.

This is my only workout for the day! My luggage cart snap broke as I was crossing the street. This hotel is definitely the right choice, the art and decor are amazing! Even the bathroom has a unique, artistic flair.
The room is quite nice and we even have a small balcony. We’re thinking seafood for dinner tonight.

My travel essentials always include ground turkey and chicken. My meals today consisted of a protein shake, chicken and vegetables, half a Publix sub, and a protein bar. That’s around four protein boluses, a solid amount when I’m not tracking macros. When I’m not tracking, I aim for four or five protein servings of 25-35 grams each and let the calories fall where they may, focusing on satiating foods. Tracking at the beginning of a diet is useful for establishing a calorie baseline, but once weight loss starts, I switch to a more intuitive approach. It’s more effective for me since I naturally eat less when I prioritize high-volume, filling foods over hitting a specific calorie target. My mini-cut is essentially over, so my goal now is maintenance. I anticipate tightening up as I increase my food intake.
It’s almost midnight, and we just got back from a late dinner. We found a little Mediterranean place.

My meal was grilled salmon with onions and rice. The salmon was incredibly delicious! The pea bread was also fantastic. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d give the meal a 9.5. It helps that I’ve been cutting for a couple of weeks, making everything taste even better.
After dinner, we went for some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had. It was truly luxurious. I got a small carrot cake ice cream.

I’m going to end this vlog here and check in with you guys tomorrow morning!
